Tell me about your best Carnival ever!  What year was it?  What made it so special?

1997. Heavy Duty's album was out.  The year of Music Farm and some of the best soca!  A carnival that was largely parent-free made for a defining moment in time.

Do you have a worst Carnival experience?  If so, care to share what made it so terrible?

I was little and lost my mum in red cross kiddies [carnival] somehow, after I crossed the stage, I ended up being one of those children you see bawling for mummy--then she found me.

What about Carnival regrets?  Which, if any, come to mind?

Letting a friend bend my will toward a costume that I wasn't feeling at ALL though she loved it.  Ideally you should be hopelessly love with your carnival costume, if possible.  The thrill of costume collecting is that much dampened when you finally pick it up and you're like, damn I could be in some other section.

Do you have a Carnival credo?  Or, an approach / belief about playing mas that you live by every Carnival season?

Appreciate, love and understand all aspects of our carnival culture, don't get too caught up in the commercialisation hype.

Are you loyal to any one Carnival band?

Nope.  Not since Minshall stopped.  My parents were true old school Minshallites and it didn't matter where I was playing--that was my band!

What does your Carnival itinerary usually look like from Carnival Wednesday to Ash Wednesday?

Varies.  I'm always open to new ventures.  I just experienced army fete, I recently went to   Barbarossa’s cooler fete.  My itinerary does not revolve around the 'who's-who' scene but rather the performance line-up, affordability, prospect of good food among other criteria.

How do you deal with your Carnival Tabanca?

Listen to soca, close my eyes and relive the memories inside.

Do you have an all-time favorite costume?  Can you describe what it looked like?

I was about 11 yrs old playing in Rosalind Gabriel's band.  I was enveloped in a giant, glittery, hot pink flower straight out of a fairy tale.  Each of us picked our own favourite colour.  It was everything a young girl could want in a costume!

If you could design your ultimate Carnival costume, what would it look like?

Something funky, asymmetrical and involving some variation of pink or gold.

What is your pre-Carnival workout routine made up of?

Not much, try to acquaint myself with the music that's out, make sure I stay healthy and don't come down with anything before.

What do you do with your costume after Carnival?

Save them.

What advice would you give to a Carnival newbie?

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy and please don't ever lose sight of what carnival is all about.
